Support Brian Jr.'s Cochlear Implant Journey

Hi, my name is Erica Hollins, and I’m reaching out on behalf of someone very special to me—my grandson, Brian Jr (Lil Brian). He was born on March 14, 2023 with significant hearing loss and is in need of continuing medical care related to his Cochlear implants.

Upon hearing the devasting news about their new born son Lil Brian's parents immediately began their journey. The journey of implementing all of the necessary actions that they were going to have to take to give their son the quality of life needed to thrive, due to his hearing loss.

So, they started by setting up a doctor's appointment with an audiologist for Lil Brian as well as all other necessary appointments that he would need to be considered for the cochlear implants. After all of the testing was completed Lil Brian was a candidate for the cochlear implants and so his surgery date/ implantation date was scheduled for January 5, 2024.

Unfortunately, On October 26, 2023, Brian Jr. lost his father, Brian Sr (My son), unexpectedly. Amid grieving such a huge loss, he also lost the parental nurturing and financial support of his father. In addition, insurance will not cover further cost related to the cochlear implants which has left him without access to the continuity of care needed for a life-changing treatment plan, the mapping/adjustment of his implants.

Brian Sr’s goal was to ensure that his son had as much of a normal life as possible. The cochlear implants along with the required interventions and treatments would give Lil Brian the gift of adequate sound. The ability to hear conversations, music and laughter is more than a medical device; it is his connection to the world around him. The ongoing and required treatments would improve his quality of life drastically, allowing him to thrive and move forward preventing any other setbacks in life.
