Support British Trials Champion Toby Martyn

Hi, my name is Toby Martyn; As many of you will know I am a 22 year old professional trials rider from Cornwall in the UK- trying to make my stand in the top class of the world indoor and outdoor championship along side competing in the British championship and other events such as the Scottish 6 Day.

I am current British Champion and have won the class for two consecutive years (2021 & 2022). I have further won the Trial 2 world championship in 2021. After winning the Trial 2 world championship in 2021, last year I made the decision to make the move to the top class of the world championship. This was an easy decision for me after winning the class below, as naturally I wanted to climb the ladder and fight for a progression in my career.

Last year I was also a chosen rider for the X trial season, where I made my stand achieving a third at the second round. Finally, I ended up 6th in the championship- after missing one event due to British Championship contract commitments. I believe this showed that I do have the ability to achieve high and fight to be one of the best amongst the best!

For the 2023 season, I made the hard decision to become a privateer due to no opportunity with a factory to ride Trial GP or X trial at the highest level. I believe this is and will be the best decision for me, as I am only 22 years old and have chosen the bike that I feel the most confident with and believe I can achieve respectable results on. One year (2022) was not enough time to make my stand in the outdoor world championship, the class requires experience and other factors which differs greatly from the class below - it’s a big jump and a hard jump to make but I believe I CAN do it!

I am making this go fund me page as I genuinely am struggling to afford to keep going as a privateer; to complete a season competing in three championships and other individual events requires a lot of financial support.

Events for 2023:

British Championship- 8 rounds across the whole of the UK.

X Trial Indoor World Championship- 7 rounds across Europe

Trial GP Outdoor World Championship - 14 rounds across Europe and also Japan.

Scottish 6 day

An insight into what I am paying for:

- Licences (myself and two minders)

- Entry fees for all rounds (BTC, WTC, SSTD)

- Tyres for bikes

- Minder Wages and Costs

- Fuel for van and bike

- Insurance/ service for van and maintenance

- Toll Charges (to travel abroad)

- Eurotunnel Expenses

- Flights (many of my events have clashed alongside an event in Japan this year for myself and minder)

- Accommodation for all events and training including minder

- Personal and minder costs for events (food + drink)

This is not something I’ve ever wanted to have to do, or thought after all I’ve achieved I would be in the position to have to do. But unfortunately this is my reality and my situation. I want to make it clear that what I am asking is just to cover expenses, I have never been in a situation where I am gaining financially- all I wish to do is to afford to pay for my season in order to prove myself. I will be receiving no wages. The financial goal on this go fund me page reflects a reduced amount of my estimated costs for the season that myself and team have carefully worked out. This may seem a large amount of money to most, which it is, but this is my reality and I just wish to be transparent with you all on the struggle I am faced with.

I will continue to work hard and push every step of the way and fight for what I know I am capable of.
