Support Brittany's Memorial & family

Donation protected
Hey all,

Brittany died on Saturday Sept 7th at Temple Main, age 34. We are all still a bit in shock about her death and any support is greatly appreciated. Her bio family does not have enough money to help pay for the cremation or memorial, so as chosen family and street family we have come together to ask for support. Brit and I met in 2016 in the harm reduction world and when she, her sister Erica (RIP 2018) and her daughter started getting involved we stayed in touch and became apart of each others' lives.

Brit was born and raised in Philly and she had seen a lot and been through a lot. The changes in Kensington from gentrification to a severe decrease in resources and direct attacks on people in Kensington, had been negatively impacting her and negatively affecting her quality of life for the last 2 years; she was heartbroken after her sister Erica died in 2018 and then completely devastated when her mother died on Oct 7, 2023.

Here is a message from her child, who just turned 16 on Sept 1st:

"Hi everyone, this is her only Daughter and I just wanna say... yes my mom was an addict but she was also a lot more. She was the most loving & caring person i know!
Even when she had a lot going on if she had somethin & someone else didn't she would help if she could. She always had a lot of stuff she was doing but even if someone did her bad and then the next day she saw they were hurting, she would help if she could. My mom always tried to be there for me even when she wasn't - she tried to be even when she couldn't - and that's what really matters. My mom lost her battle and it was really a battle, so please 4 whoever is seeing this if you have something and you knew her, or even if you didn't know her but you know what it's like, please help us!! I lost my titi a few years ago and my grandma in October last year and now losing my mom, my whole heart is broken. Thank you so much."

I will be working with the hospital and the funeral home to do everything we can to honor Brittany and to ease a bit of her family's grief. Looking to my loves and chosen family who know what this world is like for any support you are able to offer.
Here is exactly where your donations will be going:

$1200 - Transportation from the hospital and Cremation at the funeral home.
$100 - Memorial cards.
$200 - Materials for a small memorial in lieu of a funeral
$200 - to support her daughter with needs in the next month

Please give what you can and share widely.
Rest in Peace, Brit
