Support Brittany's Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, friends!
On October 29, Brittany was involved in a car accident. She sustained multiple serious injuries including a broken clavicle, ribs and sternum. She also suffered an abdominal bleed that required immediate surgery. For now, Brit is recovering in the moderate care unit where she is receiving treatment for her injuries and planning for a possible heart procedure related to the accident.
As I’m sure her family and friends can easily imagine, Brit’s positivity and determination have our spirits high. But, the road to recovery may be long. Brit adores her work-fam at Via Vecchia where she is a server and is so proud to be a part of the restaurant industry in Portland. Given her injuries, she’ll be out of work for the foreseeable future.
Brittany and Rius both work extremely hard to provide a beautiful life for their family, Z and Marlo <3. So many friends and loved ones of theirs have reached out asking how to help. We have started this fund to raise money for Brittany's medical expenses and ease the financial difficulty of suddenly being unable to work.
Brit and Rius have the most loving community of friends and family from all stages of life. Thank you for reaching out in support. Let's come together to get our dear friends over this hump.
All donations go directly to Brittany.
All my love and thanks,
Tatum
UPDATE from Brit 11/9/23:
Good morning friends! Here with an update-
While acute care is best managed in the hospital, healing (for me, anyway) is not best managed in the hospital. After 10 days in my humble studio apt at Maine Med, I’m tickled to say I’m finally home!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My ability to compartmentalize and beast through the BS started to waiver and it became more and more challenging to focus on healing and remaining positive while being separated from my people and base.
After much researching and advocating for myself, jumping through every hoop (figurative, lol I’m quite stationary) and working to find compatible in-home nursing, I got the green light to move back to Scarborough to continue my healing journey.
Being at home, in my own bed, with my perfect husband, my sweet kiddos and snugglebuggle frito stink dogs is SUCH a healing salve. My heart is so happy and I am grateful as fuck to be here.
Sure, there’s the the trade off of having to manage pain at home with much less access to medication, a thousand follow up appointments to get to, and surgeries still on the table, but for now I’m healing in my warm, love and laughter filled home and that makes it all worth it x1000.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who has donated, shared the gfm, sent encouraging words and love, checked in on us, dropped off care packages, etc. The road to recovery is long, but I feel like I can manage with all of you on my team.
Soo soo soo much love and gratitude.
