Support Bruno's Fight for Recovery

Donation protected
Yesterday morning, we let out our dogs, Milo & Bruno, to use the bathroom. It’s a routine we have for them to let them out every morning. We live in front of a busy street, and our 11-month-old dog Bruno crossed the small street. On his way back to our house, he got hit on the head, breaking his jaw and leaving him with brain damage. My dad went to pick him up and saw he was unconscious & stiff. He brought him back to the front of the house, and we started doing first aid on him. We immediately saw he reacted, and we rushed him to “Thrive Pet Health Care Specialists” in Hoffman Estates. They charged us over $1k to keep him in oxygen and to run tests. They were giving us options in order to keep Bruno living for at least 2 days. Specialists at the pet hospital told our family that they would charge us an estimated price of $8k to keep him in a box of oxygen. The estimated price the hospital gave us did not include the $1k for tests or any surgery he needed. It was only to keep him there for 2 days, medicine not included. After hearing the options, we saw it was too risky to pay so much and not knowing if Bruno was promised life. At the moment, we discussed as a family what was best for Bruno and came to a hard decision to put him down because of the cost of his surgery. We continued with the process, and as we were saying our goodbyes to him, my dad prayed for him, and as soon as he set him prayer, Bruno lifted his head and took a deep breath… that’s when we knew Bruno was fighting for his life. We talked to the specialists there; they didn’t agree with us taking him home, but we knew he was still going to keep living. We walked out of the pet hospital with Bruno and brought him back home. The specialists there said that Bruno can keep living as long as he gets jaw surgery done. As for the brain damage that he received, it is not determined he will think or act the same. He’s under our family’s supervision and lots & lots of prayers. Right now, he listens to us and moves from his shoulders down. Our family is so sad and devastated, but most of all, his brother Milo… he hasn’t moved from his side. Milo cleans him up with his licks; he senses Bruno in pain and tries to flip him over with his paw. Bruno is the smallest member of our household, so losing him would leave such an empty space in our home. Bruno is a good dog; he’s never bitten anyone. He receives anyone that enters our home with a smile and barks; he’s such a playful dog. He will be turning 1 year old tomorrow; he still has so much to live. My family is looking into having his surgery done in about a week. The estimated cost for his jaw & mouth surgery is about $4-5k. We are kindly asking that if anyone could help, we would appreciate anything that comes from anyone’s heart. If we can collect at least half of it, Bruno will keep living many more years; he’s strong and healthy. With lots of prayers and God’s faith, we know Bruno will be able to run again with his brother Milo. If you aren’t able to donate, a prayer can help just as much. Even a recommendation of care, pet medicines, or an affordable pet hospital that deals with these types of accidents would help. Bless everyone who can help Bruno in any way. Please call [phone redacted] or [phone redacted] if you have any recommendations for him.
