Support Buck and Tammy's Fight Against Leukemia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Theresa and I’m coming to you on the behalf of my son and daughter-in-law, Buck and Tammy Hoggard. On April 30 Tammy went to the doctor because she wasn’t feeling very well and noticed numerous random bruises all over her body. The doctor drew some blood, checked her out and sent her home while waiting on the results. On May 1 she got a call from the doctor saying she should go to the hospital because she may need a transfusion because her blood cell counts were off. So she went to the hospital to get it checked out and shortly after getting there the doctor came in and told Tammy that she has leukemia….catching her and the rest of the family completely by surprise.
They immediately transferred her to Norfolk Sentara where she has been ever since May 1. During this time she has been put through the ringer undergoing blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies, platelet transfusions and a week of very aggressive 24 hours a day chemotherapy treatment, as well as another type of continued Chemotherapy treatment since day one. This is been a lot on Tammy physically, mentally and emotionally. Her husband, Buck has been right by her side since they found out, leaving only to go to work. Once he gets off, he’s right back by her side and sleeps on the floor.
Tammy is a groomer and absolutely loves all of her clients and their pets and she considers all of them her extended fur-family. She has been very sad about not being able to take care of her fur-babies during this time.
Buck works at the shipyard six days a week, but during this time he has had to scale back, as he tries to be by Tammy’s side as much as possible. This has definitely made things a lot harder on them and money a whole lot tighter for their family. Buck and Tammy have a big family to care for with two daughters at home, as well as I live with them. They also opened their home to Buck’s younger brother and his two daughters after a tragic family incident a few years back. As you can imagine, taking care of such a large family isn’t easy or cheap and the pressure and stress are building fast for them. Not to mention the medical bills that will be coming in shortly.
That is why I’m coming to you today. You see Buck and Tammy are special people that go out of their way to show concern and care for everyone around them. They’re always willing to do whatever needs to be done to help others, never asking for anything in return. They have helped organize fundraisers over the years, donating time and money to benefit whomever is in need. They also have opened their home, giving their time and hard work just to help others in need and now with this huge, emotional and financial strain on them, they could really use a little (or a lot) of that love back. I know that they would be grateful for any help that they could get right now as this will be a very long and expensive road to recovery. Please search your heart and consider helping if you can. All donations will go directly to Buck and Tammy to help during this extremely difficult time.
No amount is too small.
Thank you very much,
Theresa
