"If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord--and he will repay you!" Proverbs 19:17
My name is Kit Mohler. I'm living in Chicago working as an insurance professional but I also have a burden in my heart for the kingdom of God. Through divine connections I have recently been able to connect with a pastor from a church in rural Africa. Pastor Vestine's church, Bethlehem Holy Temple, is located in a poor, rural area of the Muhanga District of Rwanda. I learned about her commitment in serving God and her community's hunger for seeking the Lord. This is a Spirit-filled church where Jesus delivers people from witchcraft, alcohol, and various oppressions, giving them freedom and joy.
I was planning to go visit this church during the summer of 2020 but COVID-19 delayed my trip. I was able to stay in touch with the pastor and learn about the new challenges they were facing throughout this continual pandemic. Due to the coronavirus, the government of Rwanda had closed the church and imposed restrictions to reopen its doors, which the church could not/cannot meet. Therefore, it has remained closed throughout the duration of this pandemic . Notwithstanding, God open doors for me to go and I finally made my visit in August 2021. During my visit I was able to meet with the pastor, learn key updates, and speak to and encourage some of the church members. As of December 2021, the church received approval to meet only for small prayer gatherings, and not yet able to have regular meetings. With over 500 members, this creates a heavy burden on the church to move forward.
Since they struggle to financially support themselves, I want to help them in this time of crisis. But rather than simply help them reintegrate, I want to see a new chapter unfold before them! I am determined to help them build a new, bigger church building so that they can flourish and glorify the name of Jesus. This will be a place where The Lord moves in power and it will stand as a testimony to many. These funds will help to physically build a new facility and purchase the remaining supplies to comply with the government restrictions to fully reopen. Together, we will be able to purchase additional land and construct a new sanctuary, Sunday School rooms, bathrooms, and a pastor's office. I have decided to take a step of faith, and you can help me make a difference in the kingdom of God. Please consider contributing to this life changing work. Whatever gift you have please remember that giving cheerfully does not require a lot of money. Recall the biblical account of the widow who was commended for giving only two cents (Luke 21:1-4).
We are continually raising funds to purchase the land and building materials. I am in communication with the pastor and her team, along with local resources, in order to monitor and implement this project. I will provide updates as we progress. Pastor Vestine, all the members, and many new visitors will be eternally grateful for your support to build this church! Thank you for investing your treasure in heaven, where moth and vermin do not destroy (Matt. 6:19-20).
Please note: All funds will go 100% directly to purchasing the materials/property for this project. I have paid/will be paying personally for my travel expenses as I make visits for this project. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions: (618) [phone redacted]. God bless you!
