Support ÀBĪYÈ: A sister owned birthing collective

Update: This March (2023) we have launched our Everyone Deserves a Doula campaign! When we dreamt up ÀBĪYÈ Collective, we wanted to find a way to make a certain that no Black birthing person that wanted a doula had to be without one. We committed to providing care to Black birthing people pro-bono every year– which is why we are excited to launch our Everyone Deserves a Doula Campaign, a continuation of the campaign we started when we first launched ÀBĪYÈ Collective two years ago.

Over the next month, we hope to go from $3000 to $8000 in hopes of increasing the number of births we can offer pro-bono on an annual basis while supporting the time and energy that we put into this critical work. Because everyone deserves a doula.

We have embarked on a journey of supporting birthing people and continuing to affirm Black Life. We are proud to announce the launch of ÀBĪYÈ Collective: a birth and wellness collective focused on the wellbeing of the birthing person during their pregnancy and childbirth experience by empowering them to build a community that reflects the values that are most important to share with their child as they bring them earthside.

ÀBĪYÈ, the Yoruba word for “successful birth” is our guiding principle. We believe in empowering birthing people with knowledge, resources, and information to ensure they feel confident to birth on their terms.

Like a village, a collective includes various professionals who bring their own set of skills to the table to ensure clients are taken care of from a variety of fronts. ÀBĪYÈ Collective partners with alternative and complementary wellness practitioners to support the whole person.

As we start off, we are asking for your support to help us provide scholarships to support BIPOC birthing people in need of doula services, securing a physical location to provide services out of, continued doula & wellness education, trainings, and certifications; scholarships to support BIPOC people interested in becoming birth workers, assistance with startup costs (website, admin tools, etc.), as well as other business expenses to support our work and the communities we plan on serving. No amount is too small! We are grateful for your support!
