Baby Cade was born May 24, 2020 with Meconium Aspiration Syndrome after being under stress during delivery.
Due to ingesting amniotic fluid and other toxic material, Cade was immediately placed in the NICU at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and was put on antibiotics and a ventilator as well as a 72 hour cooling treatment.
On May 26, he underwent a blood transfusion. His oxygen level has improved since the transfusion; however he is still on a ventilator and will need to be monitored over the next several days. If he doesn't show more signs of improvement, he will need to be put on ECMO.
As you can imagine, this is a very stressful time for first time parents, Sylvia and Cory. They will need to be placed in housing close to the hospital so they can visit their baby daily. The housing cost will be $35 a day and they are expected to be there for a month or more. On top of housing expenses, they will need help with daily meals.
