Help Café Sankofa Continue Serving the Syracuse Community

Café Sankofa is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering our neighborhood through cooperative economics, wellness, and community engagement. Located in Syracuse’s Southside, Café Sankofa provides a welcoming space for art & culture, fitness classes, workshops, community agriculture, and social gatherings, all geared towards fostering health, economic equity, and empowerment.

Why We Need Your Help

As a newly formed nonprofit, Café Sankofa relies on grants and donations to operate. To keep our doors open and continue offering affordable programming, we’re launching a campaign to raise $100,000. This will cover our operating costs and help us pay down the mortgage through 2026, giving us the foundation needed to grow our community services. Our immediate goal is to raise $14,000 by the end of 2024 to address urgent needs.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Your donation goes directly toward sustaining our programs and keeping Café Sankofa accessible to everyone. We’re proud to host our sisters The Sankofa Reproductive Health and Healing Center, providing essential reproductive health and doula services, and we serve as a distribution site for the Food Bank’s Food Sense program, offering discounted boxes of staple grocery items. Our space also supports fitness classes, yoga, meditation, and community enrichment events. While we’ve made strides with recent upgrades, like adding keyless entry and security systems, we still face a financial gap due to limited revenue and past building challenges. Without your support, we risk closing this vital community space.
