Support Cains Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Hi my name is Grace, and my sister Lucy and her fiancé Cain have recently received the devastating news that Cain has been diagnosed with Metastatic Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS). ASPS is classed as an ultra-rare subtype of sarcoma, sarcomas make up 1% of cancers and ASPS accounts for only 0.2% of the 1%. The primary tumour was found in his leg, it has spread locally into his bone and distantly into his lungs. Due to how rare this cancer is, there is no definitive treatment protocol. Chemotherapy and radiation are shown to be ineffective at treating this cancer, leaving options through the public health system very limited.
Evidence shows that several immunotherapy drugs are successful at shrinking this cancer and pro-longing patients lives for many years, and in some special cases, removing any evidence of disease. Sadly due to how rare this cancer is, these valuable treatments are not available on the PBS, and therefore must be paid for out of pocket.
Any money donated will be put towards ongoing medical costs for life pro-longing treatments, financial assistance while Cain cannot work and commuting to specialist appointments, some potentially being interstate.
Cain is only 29 years old, he and Lucy still have so many memories to make together and having to go through this at this stage of their life is just shattering. Cain has been taking this entire experience in his stride and is refusing to let it get him down, his attitude throughout these last few weeks has been simply amazing. Your support is greatly appreciated and won’t go unnoticed during this challenging time.
