Support Cait & David's Move to New Haven

Family & Friends,

Most of you probably know that David and I moved back to California at the drop of a hat. During our annual visit home in 2019, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic colorectal cancer condition that required emergent treatment. I left my degree program at Yale and David left his work and life behind in France, and we moved in with my family while I pursued treatment. I was very lucky that my condition was caught early, even though the treatment plan meant I’d spend at least the next year recovering from surgeries, adapting to a new, colon-free way of life, and generally putting my own and David’s dreams on hold.

Five years later, even as we’ve built our lives together in California, I still haven’t lost sight of my goal of returning to Yale and completing my degree. Over the past several months, I have been working hard to get my ducks in a row so that I can finally return to school, and it seems that my long-held dream of returning has become a reality.

The time has come for David and me to move back across the country so that I can continue with my education. However, after the financial strain of my medical treatments, we are facing considerable challenges in covering the costs associated with relocating.

Many of you have asked how you can help support us in getting our lives back on track after having them so thoroughly turned upside down, and we are deeply touched by your kindness. If you feel moved to do so, we humbly ask for your support in helping us make this move possible. The funds raised will go towards setting up our life in Connecticut. Specifically, you’ll be helping us ship some of our belongings, like clothing and books, to our new home across the country, and contributing towards basic kitchen wares and furnishings for our new apartment. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to this new chapter in our lives.
