Support Caleb Calhoun's Final Journey with Love

- My name is Karen Kennedy McBride and I'm Caleb Calhoun and Christy Gregory Calhoun's sister in law. Christy and my husband Tony are sister and brother. I've known Christy and Caleb since they became a couple - even before moving to AL in 1992. They truly are lovebirds! Two years ago during an emergency appendectomy, the surgeon discovered that Caleb had cancer and surgery to remove it was scheduled. Before it was removed, the surgery was cancelled so chemotherapy could be started immediately. There was a mass on his liver and other signs. About 7 months into treatment, they decided to go to the City of Hope cancer treatment center in Newnan, GA. Caleb had one problem after another with serious reactions to the chemo itself to infection of the port. COH fought hard to take control of his cancer for well over a year. Caleb suffered all through it. Remission wasn't possible and finally Caleb decided to stop treatment a week ago. Hospice has taken over.
- The past 2 years have drained their resources what with all the travel, motel costs (for 2-3 days of treatments every 2-3 weeks), co-pays and insurance. A few months ago his disability checks stopped from his employer. Hospice has told us he doesn't have long and now final arrangements have to be made. Many friends and family are bringing meals by and/or having groceries delivered but they have no room in their refrigerator! They need financial help. Please consider donating what you can. Maybe just skip a fancy coffee or a burger from a fast food place...any and all help will be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please share! Karen McBride
