Support Caleb's Legal Guardianship Fund

Hi Everyone,

It is difficult to be on the receiving end. But its like those maps in malls with the arrow that says You Are Here. Adam and I are servants and givers, but right now We Are Here. Since the Christmas Eve 2023 death of his bio father, our son who lives at the state school in Brenham, Caleb is a ward of the state without guardianship representation. The only reason this has happened is financial. Although the watchful caregiving for our son - who requires 24/7 professional care at the state school - has been consistently provided by his father and I (and now Adam and our oldest son Cliff) for all the years there, his father was the legal guardian. To obtain this now we are told by attorneys usually runs 3,000-5,000. I have been seeking assistance from Texas Legal Aid since Jan 1. One “pro bono” after another has turned down the offer to assist. Many reasons warrant legal guardianship for Caleb. He has autism and additional challenges. He lives where he does due to self injurious behaviors and additional numerous dangerous incidents. We would rather him be with us. It has not proven possible each time. So in addition to all we do in life for our precious son, legal decisions and health decisions must be made for him. For example, Recently he was assaulted where he lives. There is a video that we need to see - but no guardianship disallows us to see it. And Medical issues such as vaccines or not. We ask for any assistance you can spare to help us best serve our son.
