We are reaching out to share the story of a truly remarkable family facing an incredibly challenging journey. Caliyah, the beautiful daughter, was born on January 16, 2023. Alongside her loving older siblings, Ella and Adam, Caliyah has brought immense joy and light to her family.

However, at just six months old, Caliyah was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1)—a rare and incurable genetic condition that causes tumors to grow along the nerves.

What is NF1?

NF1 comes with a host of challenges, including:

• Painful tumors that can affect movement.

• Changes in physical appearance.

• Possible hearing, vision, breathing impairments, and death.

For Caliyah, this diagnosis has already brought significant struggles. She currently has tumors in her throat, making swallowing and even breathing incredibly difficult at times.

A Family’s Unwavering Strength

Despite the immense emotional and physical toll, my husband and I have faced this journey with courage and determination. We recently relocated to a new state, navigating career and insurance changes—all while adjusting to the financial demands of Caliyah’s ongoing care.

The cost of managing NF1 is overwhelming. Regular doctor visits, specialized treatments, and therapies to slow the progression of the disease all come with high expenses. Moreover, both parents frequently need to take time off work to care for Caliyah, adding to our financial strain.
