Support Cameron's Life-Saving Treatment

Thank You for Your Support - We're Halfway There!
We're overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has donated so far. As a mom, I still see our only son, Cameron, as my baby-even though he's now in his thirties and married. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we've been able to purchase tickets for Cameron and Sarah to travel to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) early next year. We've also secured a house to rent near the NIH for four months of outpatient care following Cameron's bone marrow transplant. YOU made this possible!
If you haven't donated yet, please consider doing so or sharing this campaign with your network. We've reached the halfway point of our fundraising goal, but we still need help covering additional expenses-like transportation, food, and caregivers once Cameron returns to Portugal, where he and Sarah live.
Cameron has been fighting his whole life. At just 14, during a hospital stay, doctors told him he had only weeks to live. But Cameron refused to give up. He persevered, living boldly and creating vibrant communities through art, music, and events that brought hundreds of people together. All the while, he endured countless hospital stays, painful surgeries, and infections caused by his compromised
immune system.
Last year, we finally discovered the cause of Cameron's illness: a rare genetic mutation that leads to AML leukemia. This breakthrough was made at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, and Cameron has been accepted into a groundbreaking program led by Dr. Holland, who discovered the mutation. In February 2025, Cameron will undergo a life-saving bone marrow transplant in the hopes of preventing the leukemia from developing. As Dr. Holland said, "It won't be easy... but it could be the cure we've been waiting for."
This treatment is our biggest chance, but it comes with significant uncovered costs.
- Relocating to Maryland for at least five months
- Recovering back home in Portugal
- Covering the many day-to-day expenses will require resources beyond our reach
That's where your support makes all the difference.
Cameron has always been private about his struggles, but he can't face this fight alone. So as his parents, we're asking for your help. Cameron has reached 35 against all odds, and with this treatment-and your generosity-he has the chance to live a healthier, fuller life.
After recovery, Cameron is eager to return to his mission: creating community and uplifting others. His work has always championed underdogs in music and art, and he's currently developing a
global project focused on accessibility in creative spaces. He hopes to use his story to help others living with chronic illness feel less alone.
Your support means the world to our family. Whether it's through a donation, sharing this page, or contributing frequent flyer miles, every bit helps Cameron take the next steps toward healing and hope.
Thank you for standing with us.
With love and gratitude,
Sylvia & Derek Rath (Cameron's Mom & Dad)
