Support Cammi's Journey to Top Surgery

Who am I and why am I here?
My name is Cameron, otherwise known as Cammi online, I'm a nonbinary artist born in New York, currently living in Washington State. I'm currently raising funds for my upcoming top surgery appointment, scheduled for mid-November of 2024. I had literally just gotten the appointment less than a day ago after spending months looking for gender health specialist that could write me a letter and then being told by my surgery clinic that the letter was invalid for insurance approval when all of a sudden, my insurance, out of nowhere, tells me I'm pre-authorized, but only for three months!

I've been needing this surgery for the past several years. Gender dysphoria is only one of the reasons, but I have a very large chest while also a very small frame. This makes it impossible to wear binders, which leave me in pain within five minutes of wearing any, or not fit properly because larger binders require wider shoulders. It has also caused immense back pain, and at least three times I've gotten ribcage injuries from bras and sleeping in certain positions, in which doctors would only prescribe me narcotics and call it a day. Wearing oversized shirts has helped a tiny bit with making my chest not look as big and attract unwanted attention, but it doesn't solve the pain issues I have on a daily basis. And so this is why I'm going for the surgery.

As for the dysphoria, I never liked being voluptuous. I hated it when people told me they were jealous of my shape and badgered me to wear cleavage-revealing tops because I had the shape for it. Ever since my teen years, long before I had internet access or knew the concept of gender and transitioning, I always just wanted to be a tomboy.

The campaign itself
The good thing is that insurance is indeed covering most of $14,000 bill, but I still have a very high deductible and a copay, which totals my out of pocket expense to $3,255.

The total goal I'm setting in this campaign is $4000. I have enough paid time off for one week, but I need two weeks to recover and the second week off will be unpaid, and with my rent eating up 60% of my monthly income, the extra $775 will help ensure I pay my rent and other living expenses, assure I at least have the initial surgery funds after GFM fees, and to help accommodate my boyfriend, who is traveling across a few states to drive me to my appointment and help me with at least the first week of recovery.

If this campaign doesn't make its goal by the pre-op date of Oct 31st, I can finance the procedure, but will still need to pay that off before the high interests pile in, so I'll keep this campaign running to help with those monthly finance payments. I will keep all donors updated on what happens.

And so,
Thank you all kindly for reading this, sharing this, and any contributions dropped in this campaign.
