Support Canouan's Recovery from Hurricane Beryl with Jessica

Hi World. My name is Jessica Trotman. I have never done anything like this before in terms of a GoFundMe but I feel strongly compelled to help the island of Canouan in any way I can in this time of need. I am a born and raised Vincentian and have been visiting the island of Canouan at least twice a year for the past 7 years since meeting my partner, Luc. His entire family still resides on the island and now that disaster has struck and Hurricane Beryl has destroyed everything, I feel it is time to give back to the island that has given me so much.

The island has a population of roughly 900 people and if it isn’t that their homes are completely gone, their businesses and livelihoods are. Canouan relies completely on tourism and with the widespread destruction of the entire island from the airbnbs run by locals, to the airport, transportation, and even their tanks that hold the only drinking water they have, as the island has no rivers.

My goal with this GoFundMe firstly is to get the people of Canouan the basic goods they need (food, drinking water, medical supplies/feminine products) and to also help aid in the rebuilding of homes and giving these people a fighting chance.

I am going to create an Instagram page where I can be more hands-on with showing you where your money is going and the people it is helping. (The name @CanouanHumanitarian)

My plan right now is simple, buying supplies and heading directly to the port in Canouan with them where they will be distributed to whoever needs them.

I know there are a couple of GoFundMe’s already and I know a lot of people have been having a hard time figuring out who to trust etc I’m not here to tell you what to do with your donations, I just want to help in some way.
