Hi, I'm Meghan. When I first created this fundraiser in early March, my dad and I were in a very different place- navigating an intense season of caregiving, uncertainty, and major life change. In the week my mom passed away last year, my dad moved in with me, and overnight I became his primary caregiver. My entire life was put on pause.
He is living with stroke-related mobility and speech challenges, and suddenly we were trying to find our footing in a completely new reality.
Since the beginning of March, some things have shifted in truly hopeful ways. Thanks to support from the VA, my dad is now receiving physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and he is showing signs of initial progress. A stair glide is also being installed to help him safely access the upstairs shower, fully covered by the VA.
We are not out of the woods entirely, but we are no longer in the same level of crisis we were when this fundraiser began.
Because of that progress, I have updated this campaign with honesty and clarity. This fundraiser is no longer primarily about emergency home modifications. It is now more clearly about helping me build the bridge into the next chapter of my life and work, while still keeping continued care support in place for my dad as needed.
My Ask: Support Meghan’s Training + Business Launch (so I can build a sustainable path of service)
Asking for help has been a practice in surrender for me. I feel blessed to have the self-awareness to recognize when support is needed- and I want to honor that support with integrity.
This next chapter includes several time-sensitive needs:
- Gas support for my upcoming personal and professional development road trip in May out west ($1,000 for 4,500+ miles of travelling)
- The final installment and travel-related supplies + costs for my immersive Animal Communication trip to Indonesia this fall led by world-renowned Animal Communicator Pea Horsely ($10,000, with $5,000 due mid-May)
- Training investments in coaching, human design, and interspecies communication ($2,000)
- Continued in-home care support for my dad as VA-covered care reaches its limit later this year ($4,000)
My upcoming road trip in May is not just personally meaningful- it is strategically important. It includes attending and networking at the Global Earth Repair Convergence in Port Townsend, reconnecting with farms in Washington and Oregon that helped shape my stewardship path and skill set, and time in Mt. Shasta for deeper reflection, practicing my training, and business visioning.
It will also be an important real-life test of how my dad does with in-home care while I am away for an extended period, helping us better understand what this kind of support can make possible going forward.
It is both a pilgrimage and a practical step toward a more sustainable future for both of our lives.
This path has deep roots. For years, I’ve worked with animals in zoos, shelters, and on farms, while also building experience in sustainable agriculture, permaculture, soil health, and herbal practice. I have also spent years cultivating mindfulness, inner coherence, nervous system balance, and a deeper connection to intuition as part of living a more happy, grounded and aligned life, especially through life's challenges.
The work I’m stepping more fully into now is not a sudden pivot, but the natural weaving together of what has been calling me for a long time: helping people reconnect with their inner steadiness and trust, supporting animals and their caregivers, and honoring a more healing relationship with the Earth.
Interspecies healing is a core thread of this work, and some of my first public offerings will begin this summer in Parkers Prairie, MN, through my Grounding Circle - Rooted Within weekly drop-in series at the farmers market I started at the city’s park a few years ago.
A note on integrity
I want to be clear: these funds are not replacing my income. They are helping support care, training, travel, and a pivotal transition for both my dad and me as we work toward a more sustainable way forward.
My promise to supporters
If you support this pivotal bridge, I will continue to:
- Share updates on my father’s care, home accessibility progress, and quality-of-life improvements
- Share honest personal progress updates as I complete training milestones and build this work with integrity
- Stay transparent about how donations are being used to support this transition
- Honor this support by building my work around respect- for animals, humans, plants, and the Earth- and service at the center
If this story speaks to you, I would be so grateful for your support. Whether you help cover a tank of gas, a portion of my airfare, contribute toward professional training and my personal business runway, or help create a continued care buffer for my dad, every gift directly supports the possibility and potential of this next chapter.
Your support is helping my dad remain at home with dignity while helping me build the path I am being called into.
With love and gratitude,
Meghan
