Support Carli & Marcus' Recovery

On the morning of July 5th, Marcus and Carli Paetzold, along with their dog Oakley, were rear ended by a semi truck into the back of a second semi truck at the intersection of Lagimodiere and East Mint Place. Carli was airlifted by Stars in critical condition and Marcus was brought by ambulance to the hospital.

Together they have a long road to recovery. Marcus suffered many bruises and lacerations as well as a serious concussion. He has been discharged as of the evening of July 6th to continue to recover at home. Carli suffered many broken bones, a fractured vertebrae and a crushed vertebrae, as well as other injuries. She underwent surgery to fuse her spine which was successful, with surgeons noting that she was incredibly lucky to avoid paralysis.

The couple's dog Oakley was tracked down by a good samaritan who brought him to be checked over by animal services. Oakley was found to be miraculously unharmed.

Despite their tragic experience and extensive injuries, Marcus and Carli are both responding with resilience and hope. They know that God is not finished with their story and are trusting in His ability to sustain them in the coming days, weeks. and months.

The Paetzolds have selfless hearts and desire to serve others in their respective careers, Marcus as a paramedic, and Carli as a labour and delivery nurse. They will be missed in their places of work as they will be required take significant time off to physically recover.

Funds contributed will go directly to the couple, towards the cost of parking and gas as Marcus visits Carli at the hospital, meal and grocery delivery, cleaning services, and other needs that may arise.
