Hello. I write to y’all today with a heavy heart for my friend and fellow SWA co-heart, Casey Rittner. Casey and his husband Dewey have been together for 27 years. After a routine gallbladder surgery, Dewey passed away suddenly at their home on October 2, 2024. Please help me take away any financial strain for Casey as he makes arrangements to celebrate the life of his love, Dewey. His obituary is as follows:

Mr. Dewey Merle Ennis, beloved spouse of Mr. Casey Rittner, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 2, 2024. Dewey was born on November 26, 1966 in Chattanooga Tennessee to Eddie and Glenda (Willmore) Ennis. He was the eldest sibling. Dewey was a 1985 graduate of McMinn County High School in Tennessee. Dewey studied briefly at University of Tennessee then went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture at Massachusetts Intitule of Technology in September 1992. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity during his time at MIT.

Dewey was an unapologetic gay punk nerd, a beloved member of his local gaming communities, quick to laugh and a sucker for any animal.

Dewey was an avid music and movie fan. His tastes in music were always top-notch. At MIT, he was instrumental in booking bands at the student center, some of which have become today’s top performers. After graduating college, Dewey moved home to Augusta, GA and operated a comic book store. Dewey’s passion in life was gaming and roll playing. These were just a few of Dewey’s favorite joys in life. He enjoyed Magic: The Gathering as well as Dungeons and Dragons. During Covid and beyond, Dewey hosted many games online for his loyal friends.

In the late 1990’s Dewey returned to Boston and pursued a career in Internet Technology. He met his then boyfriend Casey and lived in Derry and Candia, NH for several years before settling in Atlanta in 2002. There, they built their life together surrounded by friends, neighbors, and a menagerie of pets. The couple sealed their relationship at a small ceremony in 2011 surrounded by friends.

Dewey was an avid collector. A few of these most cherished were Lego, Star Wars, and Mego. While Casey always scoffed at the collecting, he finally grew to love it. Together they both dove into the pastime.

Dewey is survived by his love of 27 years, Casey.

Dewey is also survived by sister Karen (Tori) Harris and Betty Ann (Greg) Toomey, a niece Jessica, nephew Aiden, an aunt, cousins, in-laws James and Suzanne Roznowski, and Daniel Corrigan along with his children Miles and Olivia. He also left behind his beloved dogs Juno, Rigby, and Halana. He was preceded in death by his father Eddie Ennis and mother Glenda (Willmore) Ennis. Dewey has many special and close friends whom he cherished. He was a larger-than-life personality that will never be forgotten.

Dewey will be sorely missed by his friends at Titan, hundreds of friends from his gaming adventures, and the community he loved.
