To honor his memory, the Meyers and Gaudio families are establishing the Cash Gaudio Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund will provide need-based scholarships to student-athletes who best exemplify Cash's character and values. Cash had strong ties to both Liberty Christian Academy and Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, the latter of which his parents helped to establish in 2005.
Cash Gaudio was tragically shot and killed on Monday, Sept. 30, in his driveway in Lynchburg, Virginia, in a senseless act of violence. Though the suspect has been arrested, Cash's family is left grappling with the heartbreaking loss of their beloved son.
A recent graduate of Liberty Christian Academy, Cash also attended Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy and Jefferson Forest High School. He was an active member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and The Hope Company, where he regularly participated. Cash was the proud owner of his own business, Cash's Clean Detailing, and also worked as a lifeguard at the YMCA. He was a dedicated athlete, working out daily at Elite Fitness, and played travel basketball for Hill City Crash.
At just 19, Cash was attending CVCC and growing his car detailing business. His greatest goal was to transfer to UVA and graduate with a degree in business.
His life verse was Jeremiah 29:13.
