Hi, I'm Catherine!

I am currently living in Los Angeles, CA. Living in LA, you see a large number of homeless people every single day. I always try to give a little something to help someone out whenever I can, but rather than just giving money or a snack, I want to be able to offer these people something that could be a huge blessing to them and could actually really help them. So I've decided to make care packages to hand out next time I see someone in need.

I am raising funds to start a project to help those in this city who are homeless, hungry, and in need of love. I got this idea from doing it with my church as a kid, and I think it is a wonderful way to help those who are less fortunate.

I want to start out by making 50 care packages, which will be full of useful supplies in a reusable grocery bag. These care packages will include:

-Reusable grocery bag

-Thermal socks

-A toothbrush and mini toothpaste

-A hair comb

-A few individually wrapped hand sanitizer wipes or baby wipes

-Emergency thermal blanket

-A few bandages

-A few non-perishable food items including peanut butter crackers, granola bars, slim Jims, mandarin oranges, Vienna sausages, tuna

-A bottle of water or two

-A hand-written note with a word of love and encouragement, and a Bible verse.

I have found most of these items able to be bought in bulk from Amazon, and the rest I can get from Costco. To purchase all of these items to make 50 bags, it will cost about $500. I will likely have some supplies left over after the 50 bags and can make even more bags with leftover supplies. This comes out to about $10 per bag, and includes all of these items that could be life changing for someone who is living on the street. It is also an incredible way to help them feel loved, cared for, and like they matter.

I will keep some of these bags in my car, and I will share bags with friends, co-workers, and people in my church community to pass out if they see someone who needs it along their route too!
