Support Cayla’s Melanoma Battle

Hi, my name is Aunt Kim and I am fundraising for my niece, Cayla, and my sister, Kelly. This GFM will create a support team to help with any uncovered and/or unexpected costs related to Cayla defeating cancer. We have faith she will win the fight against melanoma and thank you in advance for any support you are able to provide.

In June 2023, metastatic melanoma was diagnosed in Cayla’s right upper cheek. The ‘battle plan’ is to use immunotherapy to shrink and hopefully eradicate the cancer. The melanoma that Cayla has is in two areas, one in front of the other. Its location makes surgery to remove the tumor a risk. Cayla is currently receiving immunotherapy treatments once every three weeks for 12 weeks (3rd treatment was today). After that’s over, she will get another PET scan to determine next steps forward. She currently receives two different medicines at the same time to battle the melanoma. It is the highest cost to date. The good news is Cayla, her doctor and Kelly believe the tumor has decreased in size after the first couple rounds of treatment. We pray for complete healing. The battle continues…

Kelly is working full time and side jobs to cover what she can on her own and trying to keep life as normal as possible as Cayla continues her college education. Courtney accompanies Cayla to infusion appointments (and draws the best photos of Cayla during each treatment). Many have asked how they might help and it is not easy for Kelly to ask. Bills have already reached $5000+ AFTER insurance pays its portion. All support will go directly to Kelly so she can help Cayla fight cancer.

We have faith Cayla will win this war against melanoma and are in awe of her positive attitude during this journey.
