Help Us Build, Race, and Win!
We are City College of New York’s (CCNY) Baja SAE Team, a group of hardworking and diverse engineering students pushing the limits of design, fabrication, and off-road performance! We are raising funds to compete in the 2025 Baja SAE Maryland competition from June 10-14, where we will put our custom-built off-road vehicle to the test against universities from around the world.
What is Baja SAE?
Baja SAE is a prestigious collegiate engineering competition where teams design, build, and race a single-seat, all-terrain vehicle through extreme off-road challenges. This includes acceleration, suspension, maneuverability, hill climbs, and a grueling 4-hour endurance race. Every component of our car is designed, tested, and manufactured by our team—including the chassis, drivetrain, and suspension.
Our Team
CCNY Racing consists of brilliant hardworking engineering students who find creative solutions to complex problems and troubleshoot issues quickly and together. We have students from various majors, mostly in Mechanical Engineering, with a few from Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

What We Gain from This Experience
Being part of Baja SAE is more than just racing—it’s a hands-on engineering experience that prepares us for real-world careers in mechanical design, manufacturing, and automotive engineering. Our members develop skills in:
✅ Welding, milling, lathing, and metal fabrication
✅ FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CAD design
✅ Suspension and drivetrain engineering
✅ Teamwork, project management, and leadership

What We Achieved Last Year
In our last competition, we built one of our best-performing cars to date, proving the strength of our design and manufacturing skills. Some highlights from last year’s car:
✅ Top Speed: Reached 35 mph, comparable with top teams!
✅ Suspension Handling: Performed exceptionally well on rough terrain with smooth cornering and stability.
✅ High Torque for Hills: Our powertrain delivered incredible torque, making hill climbs easy.
✅ Reliability: The car ran consistently with minimal breakdowns, showing the durability of our design.
✅ 4WD System: We designed and manufactured a complete four-wheel-drive (4WD) system from scratch, improving traction and off-road capability.
✅New Chassis: Designed a completely new chassis to accommodate the custom 4WD system, ensuring optimal strength, durability, rigidity, driver safety, and performance.
We’re building on these successes for 2025—and with your support, we’ll take it even further!
Current Progress – What We've Built So Far!
Our team has been working tirelessly to design, fabricate, and assemble our new Baja car. Here’s what we’ve accomplished so far:
✅ Chassis: Manufactured most of the frame in just 4 weeks!
✅ Suspension: Completed the design and analysis for optimal handling.
✅ Powertrain: Finalized our drivetrain system for maximum performance.
✅ Safety & Electronics: Designed our safety components and electrical systems.
✅ Reusing Components: Many parts from our old car—including suspension and powertrain components—will be reused, decreasing the time until completion!
We’re moving fast, but we need your support to cross the finish line!
Why We Need Your Help!
Building a competitive Baja car is expensive, and as a student-run team, we rely on sponsorships and donations to cover essential costs. Your support will directly help us with:
Competition Expenses Breakdown:
✅ Team Uniforms - $300 (Shirts with our team's logo and school name)
✅ Extra material - $500 (Steel tubing, sheet metal, steel plates)
✅ Electronics - $300 (Battery, kill switches, sensors, digital speedometer)
✅ Hardware - $150 (assortment of grade 5 bolts and nylock nuts)
✅ New CV Axels - $200 (to transfer rotational power to the wheels from the differential)
✅ Truck Rental & Fuel – $2,000 (to transport our car & tools to Maryland)
✅ Hotel Costs for the Team – $3,200 (4 nights for our team members)
✅ Portable Welder – $500 (for quick fixes at the competition)
✅ Power Tools - $500 (to increase productivity and speed)
Where Our Alumni Work
Our past members have gone on to work at top automotive and engineering companies, including:
General Motors, Ford, Nissan, John Deere, Kia, and more!
Some have even started their own off-road racing companies, turning their Baja experience into lifelong careers. Many created lifelong friendships and partnerships through their time at CCNY Racing.
How You Can Help
Every dollar makes a difference! Your donation will help us compete, represent CCNY, and gain valuable engineering experience. Even if you can't donate, sharing this campaign with friends, family, and colleagues helps us reach more supporters!
Thank You for Supporting the Future of Engineering!
We can’t wait to race in Maryland, and with your support, we’ll be ready to take on the challenge! Follow our journey and updates as we build, test, and compete.
