Support Cecilia's Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Cecilia is our dear friend, my son's caregiver, and his favorite person in the world.
On January 2, 2025, Cecilia went to the hospital for a fairly common procedure. However, strokes during surgery left her on an ECMO machine and ventilator for weeks and in a coma for over six weeks. After 3 1/2 months in the hospital, she has now been transferred to a continuing care hospital while she continues the healing and recovery process. She is getting physical and occupational therapy. While she's able to eat a little bit of soft foods, she's still on a feeding tube and has a tracheotomy. She is able to speak softly and with much difficulty. She is not currently able to stand, walk, or use her arms or hands.
We don't know the final prognosis, but whatever God has for her, she will have a long, long road to recovery ahead.
This medical emergency resulted in the immediate loss of her income. Her husband, our friend Enrique, continues to work to pay the bills so they don't lose their house. Then he drives to the hospital every day to be with Cecilia -- to encourage her, support her, care for her, love her, and help with therapy.
He's been given an estimate of the cost of $500 a day for someone to help care for her once she's able to come home. The house is not accessible for what she will need to be able to return home.
They are hard-working people of faith - not rich people. The future for both Cecilia's recovery and their finances are unknown.
We are asking for your financial support to help Enrique keep up with mortgage payments and give him a little bit of breathing room. Finances raised above the mortgage need would be used for medical bills, home adaptations, and care for Cecilia.
Whether or not you can donate, will you please pray for Cecilia's physical and mental healing, and for Enrique's mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health?
Thank you!
