In Memory of Chad: Supporting Final Expenses and Family Need

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts to share that Chad Bartell, a beloved husband, father, brother, son, uncle, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon and liver cancer. This news has been a shock to us all, and as we navigate through this challenging time, we are seeking your support to help him and his family face the battles ahead.

Despite having health insurance, the journey through cancer treatment is fraught with hurdles. Insurance has unfortunately will not cover several critical aspects of Chad's care, including some of the PET scans that are essential for monitoring the cancer's progression and the effectiveness of treatment. These scans are vital but come with a hefty price tag that is beyond the family’s current means. Adding to this is the doctor’s report informing that the tumors are no longer responding to treatments and that one of them has increased in size and level of activity. His clinic has offered a couple of options and Chad has also conducted his own research. He and his family have decided to attempt seeking treatment in Arizona at a Medical Center that specializes in late-stage cancer treatment with experience using a broader selection of medications as well as the integration of alternative therapies with demonstrated effectiveness. However this avenue comes with its own financial implications, as the treatment there would cost approximately $100,000. As Chad considers this option, the financial strain on his family intensifies.

Moreover, Chad has been a pillar for his family, providing not just love and support but also financial stability. With a mortgage, daily living expenses, and now mounting medical bills, the financial strain is immense. The reality of losing income due to the inability to work while undergoing treatment adds another layer of stress during a time when focus should solely be on recovery.
