Hello all, thank you for visiting!
As some of you may know, in August 2018 I suddenly presented with a severe case of epilepsy that over time had a range of effects on my physical and mental health, my employment and finances, and my relationships and interactions. All things changed, and many things crumbled, including my ability to pretend like standard employment is safe, healthy, or sustainable for me.
In the meantime, I've been recovering - getting my memory and physical ability back (chronic pain is terrible, fam) developing my Healing skills, and starting a Patreon (you should check it out!), building a website and starting to write again, but what I really need is the time/space/support to take a break and focus on taking care of myself and not just surviving.
This fall, I have the opportunity to stay with some chosen family, and then to go home to my island, St. Croix, where I haven't been for 7 years, and I am raising funds to be able to:
- take care of myself
- pack up my apartment, store my belongings, etc
- replace some basic needs like clothing, shoes, and travel supplies
- travel, eat, and compensate the folks who are helping me
A friend told me recently that they don't remember the last time they saw me take a break, and my life is really highlighting the necessity of it. Time to stop forcing the other stuff and let the ocean wash some of this away.
Donations are deeply appreciated; so is sharing. I'm trying to have this complete by the end of August so that I can spend Sept (my last month in my current place) organizing, packing, and not rushing.
