Hi my name is Michael Fox and I'm fundraising for my niece, Chantelle (Tilly). Tilly is keen to explore Australia whilst her health allows. I’d appreciate your consideration in allowing her dream to become a reality.
This journey started with a couple of lumps around her jaw in May 2023, at the age of 18, that turned out to be Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s TCell Lymphoma (subtype AITL - a very rare and aggressive cancer). The Princess Alexandra Hospital Brisbane provided 4 chemo protocols that unfortunately were unsuccessful. Her parents were encouraged to make end-of-life arrangements in December 2023 as her outlook seemed to be very bleak. Tilly's doctors transferred her to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital for a donor bone marrow transplant on the 6th of January 2024, which was a challenging process but ultimately successful.
While still recovering from the bone marrow transplant, in July 2024 Tilly was suffering from constant migraines. Following numerous tests her Doctors found a brain lesion/tumour. The treatment options were very limited due to the location in her central nervous system. Thankfully, the required radiation shrunk it enough for her to have Lumbar Puncture Chemotherapy.
During the Christmas/New Year holidays at the end of last year, Tilly was taken to hospital by ambulance with a collapsed lung. Doctors found a 5cm hole in her right lung. Tilly's lungs have become severely damaged due to the cancer and treatments. Whilst being cared for in ICU, Tilly became severly unwell and doctors were concerned Tilly's body and lungs were giving up. They advised her parents to arrange family and friends to say their final farewell's as they didn't expect her to survive until the next day. Once again, Tilly made a miraculous recovery.
Tilly has expressed that she would like to spend some quality time with her parents and see some of the sights of Australia whilst she is physically able to do so. Tilly would like to see The Whitsunday's, Sydney and other areas within NSW, Victoria and the Barossa Valley. She would like to see Uluru, however, due to her damaged lungs, plane travel is not a possibility. Tilly's parents are looking at hiring a camper van/caravan to complete the travel safely and comfortably within the next month.
Tilly's mother (my sister), Tammy, has been registered as the beneficiary of this fundraiser.
As Tilly’s travel plans and experiences evolve we’ll update this page.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and compassion.
