Support Coach Charles Pilamunga’s Road to Recovery

Rally for Charles! Our friend, Miami Beach Senior High Teacher, Head MBSH Water Polo Coach, and Swim Coach, Charles Pilamunga, needs our help.
To know Charles is to love Charles. One of the kindest and most time-generous souls on the planet, for more than 22 years, Charles has devoted endless hours of his time to high schoolers in Miami-Dade County. Charles is a history teacher at Miami Beach Senior High, Boys and Girls Head Swim Coach, and Boys and Girls Head Water Polo Coach. Charles hasn't been feeling well for quite some time but kept pushing that aside, never wanting to miss school, a swim meet, or a game. Last Monday, March 3rd, Charles went to the doctor and it was discovered that he was having kidney failure. He has been in the hospital since, receiving dialysis. There remains a lot to learn in the days ahead and a long road to recovery, but Charles is keeping positive.
One thing you can say with certainty is that Charles is ALWAYS present for our kids. He is always at school with a helpful demeanor. He is ALWAYS on the pool deck, every day, greeting every swimmer and water polo player with a smile and a laugh. He is a fixture in Miami-Dade Water Polo, reffing, playing, coaching, and mentoring. Charles is one of a kind. He gives so generously of himself to our kids and community and asks nothing in return. Now, he needs our support to overcome this unexpected hurdle. Any donation, no matter the amount, is appreciated. We hope these small acts of kindness will alleviate some of the financial stress for Charles and the family he supports, his wife Pam and two children, so that he can focus on getting well, getting back to school, and getting back on the pool deck. His daily presence is so truly missed.
