Charley has faced a lifetime of serious health struggles, beginning with a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes at just 9 years old. Over the years, this condition has led to severe complications, including legal blindness, constant daily swelling, and severe gastroparesis, where he can barely digest food.

Tragically, Charley’s health has deteriorated to the point where he is now in end-stage kidney failure. After numerous failed treatments and surgeries, his doctors have given him a prognosis of only 6 to 9 months left to live. Charley is now under hospice care to manage his pain and ensure that his final months are as comfortable as possible.

Despite the immense physical and emotional toll of his illness, Charley’s greatest wish is to spend his remaining time creating lasting memories with his children—14-year-old Charley Jr., 13-year-old Ceara, and his 13-year-old niece Kiayah, who has been like a daughter to him. Charley dreams of taking them on a special family trip to Hocking Hills and giving them keepsakes to cherish forever. However, due to his disability and limited income, Charley cannot afford these dreams on his own.
