Support Local Chefs in Recovery from Hurricane Helene

Our mission has always been to support local chefs through freedom of creativity, schedule flexibility, and deserved pay for one of the toughest and lowest-paid industries. The chefs are industry leaders in current restaurant roles as well as local private chefs.

Hurricane Helene has put many challenges in front of our private chefs that live there. These chefs bookings have all been cancelled, which is understandable given that many areas across Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia are not accessible, and where they were staying is either damaged or outright gone.

I am the COO of Food Fire + Knives. Food Fire + Knives is a marketplace for private chefs to get booked for events and dinners. The private chefs that we are hoping to help are the private chefs that live in the cities that were hit by Hurricane Helene - those in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.

This Gofundme is to help these chefs out of this hard time. Not only are their homes damaged or destroyed, but they are struggling with basic needs and without their income—they are paid per event—and many are facing huge challenges to get back on their feet.

The funds will be used to help them recover from their loss of work. Many of the customers that booked an event with these chefs have cancelled their bookings and demand a full refund.

Since the chefs are 1099 contractors, there is no other income coming in for them and thus the funds donated here will go towards helping to pay for basic needs such as food, water, gas and shelter.

Anything donations to help would be most appreciated. We will be taking requests from the chefs to issue all funds received and will account for all money sent to them. No money gathered will be paid to anyone but those chefs in need.

Any money not distributed will be donated to the World Central Kitchen to help all those affeced. The only fees that will be taken out of this fund are those charged by GoFundMe.
