Support Cheryl's Recovery from Brain Surgery

Hello Friends,

We are Kathy and Ray Seppala, Cheryl's sister and brother-in-law. On July 2, 2024, after Cheryl had been experiencing confusion and anxiety for a few weeks, we felt it necessary to take her to the doctor. There, we discovered that her blood pressure and blood sugar levels were alarmingly high. Following the doctor’s prescription for the necessary medication, we requested an MRI. The results were concerning, leading us to the ER, where it was determined that Cheryl had a large, golf ball-sized gliosarcoma brain tumor that needed to be surgically removed. The surgery took place on Saturday, July 6th, and five days post-operation, Cheryl is eager to be discharged and begin navigating her new reality.

As many of you know, Cheryl moved here 21 years ago leaving behind dear family and friends from Michigan to be closer to our family. Six years later, she found her calling with the Family Promise organization, dedicating 15 incredible years to its mission. Cheryl’s impact on the lives of staff, volunteers, homeless families, and faith-based congregations is immeasurable. She also generously volunteered her time with several other non-profits. All these years later she has built a community of dear friends she considers family.

Your contributions will alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with Cheryl’s paying a few essential bills and out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance. Your donation will help ease the increasing stress caused by this unexpected circumstance.

Over the past 9 days, Cheryl has remained resilient, cheerful, and determined to win the hearts of the hospital staff, just as she has with all of us. Although we do not yet know the path this devastating disease will take, Cheryl draws strength and hope from the overwhelming love and support she has received. We are humbled and comforted by the vastness of her influence and the kindness extended during this difficult time.
