Support Chet Wisniewski’s Medical Care

My name is Patrick Wisniewski and I wanted to give you all another update about my father Chet Wisniewski. 6 months ago my father was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. While this was obviously terrible news, it had been caught very early with a throat scope examination. 5 months ago my father underwent surgery to have the cancer removed. We thought we were going in for one battle, but it turns out we were about to face a completely different one. The surgery went incredibly well. While my dad would still do chemo and radiation, the cancer was removed. For the next few days my father was extremely confused. He was in the ICU and it was thought that he was having a case of ICU Delirum. However, as the weeks went on he continued to have trouble following directions, difficulty with short term memory, and reality perception. We spoke to my father’s medical team and had a neurologist work with him. He was given a Lewy Body Dementia diagnosis. The past almost 6 months have an absolute nightmare for our entire family. My father has been in and out of the hospital many, many times from complications related to his conditions. My mother has been at my father’s side the entire time and she has been doing her best to maintain everything. My sister, brothers, and I have tried to assist as best as we can from far away taking shifts once a month and flying up to see my father and to help mom. While there have been struggles, my dad is still my dad. Every day I call him and we tell jokes, share our love, and he can even recall very long term stories which is wonderful. My parents have always been the kind of people to help at a moments notice. They will drop everything to take care of the people they love and the people they just met. I couldn’t not have asked to be blessed with better parents. They have given me so much love, inspiration, and humor. I have decided to put together a fundraiser for my parents. These funds would be used for my father’s medical care as we are planning on transfering my father home and he is going to require 24 hour care. Anything will assist my parents and anything is sincerely appreciated.
