Accompong Projects By Chief Currie

Since our Treaty was signed 286 years ago the Maroons as indigenous people still face a serious economic, health and water infrastructure crisis that will only slow the growth of our indigenous Body Politic until a plan is supported by the people and implemented on behalf of the people.

This Accompong project will work closely with experts and partners to refurbish and setup a health clinic in Accompong due to the distance and time (45 minutes) it takes for Maroons to visit the nearest hospital or health centre. With an aging population of elders it is paramount that a health clinic be reestablished in the community to help serve the people of Accompong who currently receive no aid or assistance from government agencies.

Along with the health clinic we will focus on water infrastructure which is a life essential towards the development of a society. The Maroon territory provides 40% of all the fresh water supply to the island whereby Jamaica benefits due to its water infrastructure. Providing proper shelter and access to clean, safe water in Maroon territory will help the Maroon people realize the hope they have for their own self-reliance and autonomy.

We will also develop a sustainable shelter and water infrastructure plan. Our plan will first help with short-term goals but will also build a foundation for medium and long-term solutions. Chief Currie is very passionate about unlocking the Maroon's potential. After all, water doesn't change anything; the people we serve do. When we come together in unity, we begin to write our own history based on the human Will and Spirit.

The Accompong government administration will make sure that the Maroon community's needs are always considered first. Expert engineers in the field of water solutions will help ensure that this immediate concern is addressed in a manner that will be cost-effective and structurally sound.

With your support, we will be able to provide shelter and water solutions for Maroon citizens as well as aid in the development of Accompong Town and our culture. We've learned that a water project must be reliable, convenient and safe, and that requires careful consideration alongside each community.

The Accompong Maroons are honored to have been recognized by a United States Congresswoman and a member of the United States House of Representatives. With this recognition via a Proclamation under the United States seal the Accompong Maroon Administration is motivated to fulfilling the vision of our people and to bring tangible opportunities to our community.

His Excellency The Most Honorable Chief Richard Currie - Sovereign State of Cockpit Country would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone locally in Jamaica and throughout the diaspora that continues to assist the Accompong Maroons in our efforts of upward economic and social mobility as an indigenous people.
