Hello! This is Claudine and Steve, and we're the proud owners of Chili John’s, a beloved institution in Burbank, CA, with roots extending back to 1946. As a veteran and a woman minority-owned business, we take pride in being the oldest standing restaurant in Burbank, renowned nationwide for our famous chili and our authentic 1940s diner ambiance.

The journey to becoming the owner of Chili John’s wasn’t planned. After serving 15 years in the United States Coast Guard in roles ranging from naval intelligence to a tactical combat medic, I discovered my passion for bringing people together over food. My home became a haven for shipmates seeking warmth and camaraderie during the holidays, and they often encouraged me to open a restaurant. Initially, I dismissed the idea, but the calling to create a gathering place eventually became undeniable.

Today, Chili John’s is in need of support to cover essential expenses that will ensure our continued operation and improvement. The funds raised will be allocated towards:

Mortgage Payments: Helping us keep the doors open and maintain our space for the community.

Labor Costs: Supporting our dedicated staff who make every dining experience special.

Supply Costs: Ensuring we have the necessary ingredients and materials to serve high-quality meals.

Maintenance and Repairs: Updating our facilities, including fixing our neon and lighted signs, painting the interior, reupholstering seats, and enhancing our kitchen equipment.

Chili John’s has been a cornerstone of the community for generations, where families bond over meals—some even spanning five generations. Our beloved U-shaped countertop is where memories are made and friendships flourish.

Unfortunately, the challenges facing the filming and entertainment industry in Burbank have greatly affected our vital source of revenue as a filming location. As we work through these changes, Chili John’s is seeking support to cover essential expenses that will ensure our continued operation and improvement. Despite the obstacles we’ve encountered—including the impact of COVID-19, the writers’ strike, and devastating wildfires—our commitment to serving the community remains steadfast. While the pandemic has significantly hindered our ability to provide the cherished dining experience our patrons deserve, we continue to strive to keep our doors open for the loyal customers who have made Chili John’s a treasured part of their lives.
