I'm fundraising for Chip and Melissa Schofield's medical expenses.
Charles “Chip” Schofield is a retired Naugatuck Police Officer who retired after 20 years on the force in September 2019. Right after this, he took a new position as a security guard for Watertown Public Schools. Around Thanksgiving 2019, Chip experienced severe abdominal pain which led to many doctor’s appointments and testing and ultimately his diagnosis of neuroendocrine cancer. Chip has been battling cancer bravely for 4 years enduring many different treatments, surgeries and unplanned hospital visits. Unfortunately, this month Chip was diagnosed with an additional cancer called acinar cell carcinoma, a rare pancreatic cancer. He is now undergoing additional chemotherapy for this.
Throughout this roller coaster of a journey, Chip is fortunate to have his wife Melissa and their three daughters, Kyrstin, Megan and Erin by his side. As the saying goes, behind every great man is a great woman. Melissa has been working in the Naugatuck Public School system for over 15 years. Everyone who works with her loves her and knows that she is compassionate, creative and selfless. She goes above and beyond to help others and take care of students at City Hill Middle School everyday.
So many of Melissa's colleagues like myself want to give back to her and help her family but don’t know how. I’m setting up this Gofundme account so we can in a small way show our support and love for the Schofield's. Let’s make it our goal to raise enough money to cover Chip and Melissa’s insurance deductible. They have enough to worry about so let’s ease some of their financial worries.
Please consider a donation. Every little bit helps.
