Support Chris Askew's Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
My name is Makenzie & I started this go fund me to benefit my step-dad.
On April 14th, 2024, my step-dad, Chris Askew suffered a stroke. Luckily, he made it through, but not without some deficits. Chris lost complete function of his left arm & leg immediately following the stroke. He has worked dillegently at John Heinz both inpatient & outpatient therapy to regain as much function as he can.
If you know Chris, you know he was the hardest worker, driving truck for HRS Transport. He loved his job. He was told by a neurologist 3 weeks ago that he will never be able to drive truck again. As if that wasn't devastating enough, Chris has had a lot of bloodwork done & has twice tested for a marker gene for Lupas. He is awaiting a third blood test to confirm this diagnosis. Even though the diagnosis is grim, Chris continues to attend all of his doctor appointments. He sees specialists in Danville, Bloomsburg, Scranton, and physical therapy as well. It is a lot of travel with no end in sight.
Chris has always been the first one to donate not only his time, but money & d.j. services to help so many in our valley. He was willing to help anyone that asked. Now Chris is in a tough position and needs a little help himself. His wife, my mom, is working 2 jobs and looking for a third to keep their household afloat.
Any donation is appreciated. Even if you can't donate, please share. My step-dad deserves this & so much more.
