Support Chris' Cancer Treatment and Recovery

Dear Friends and Community Members,

 

In January 2022, our close friend Christina McDougall from Toronto, ON, was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer after undergoing emergency spinal surgery to remove masses discovered on her spine. Chris had been struggling with lower back pain for months and had been diagnosed with bulging discs. It was also felt that Chris could be experiencing some physical pain due to the stress her family was experiencing as her older sister had undergone a live liver transplant in October of 2021.

 

Chris has undergone radiation to help shrink the tumours and will be starting drug therapy to slow down the growth of the cancer. Chris has been informed by the medical team at Princess Margaret Hospital that she will not be returning to work.

 

Chris is a dynamic woman, an avid fisherwoman and a volunteer of Ontario Women Anglers. She loves to play golf, is hardworking and an amazing mentor, loving wife, caring sister, fabulous aunt, and trusted friend.

During a visit with Chris after her surgery, she talked about her concerns for the others in her life that are affected by her illness. Chris has always been a woman who looks out for the needs of those around her. Her family members are doing all they can to support her through this most difficult time of treatments and appointments.

 

Ontario Woman Anglers is asking those who know and love Chris, as well as our community members, to help to provide financial support so that she can focus on her treatment and feeling better.

This GoFundMe page has been set up by Ontario Women Anglers’ volunteers to help Chris and her husband, David, pay for any extra medical, travel or household expenses that will arise. Money should be the least of their worries during this time and Chris should have some peace of mind while she endures this fight.
