Support Chris Fangrow's Recovery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kelly Gillespie. My husband George and I started this Go Fund Me for our close family friends Chris and Mandi Fangrow in their time of great need.
On Tuesday July 18, 2023, Chris suffered a major cardiac event while at work. He was rushed to the hospital, thankfully the paramedics and doctors were able to revive him. He was placed in the intensive care unit on life support and in serious condition. The hospital started running test’s and found that he had a 100% blockage in an artery on the back side of his heart. The first few days were touch and go but once Chris was stable enough the doctors did an angioplasty and placed a stent in to hold the artery open. Once they were able to get a CT scan it was determined that he also suffered a massive stroke. He has serious damage to the left side of his brain and that can cause paralysis and sensory loss on the right side of his body along with aphasia which is the loss of ability to understand or express speech. The doctors said that he would have significant disabilities for the rest of his life.
This week he has shown that he is able to squeeze a hand when asked, he opened his eyes for the first time and today July 28, 2023 he was finally able to have the ventilator tube removed. His recovery will be a long one with extensive rehabilitation and most likely lifelong care.
A little bit about Chris if you don’t know him personally. He is a loving husband, father, Papa and son. When he’s not working his regular job, you can find him working on projects, playing with grandkids, fishing or taking weekend trips to the wilderness with his wife Mandi and their dogs. Chris is a hard worker and a jack of all trades, he is always willing to help family, friends and even strangers when needed.
Chris and Mandi are going to have an enormous amount of medical and rehabilitation bills moving forward. Without Chris’ income and Mandi needing to be with him at the hospital, they are going to have a lot of financial strain. We do not want her to have to worry about how these surmounting bills will be paid, on top of their house payment, utilities and other daily expenses while caring for Chris. Given the extent of damage from the massive stroke, we have no idea how long his recovery journey may be. Funds raised will help take some of the stress off Mandi so she can focus on helping Chris during this time.
If you have sent messages to Mandi or any of his family, they appreciate all the support and would ask for your continued prayers during this very difficult time.
