Help Chris Koch on his road to recovery
Friday afternoon, September 13th, Chris and his brother were taking down a grain bin at a neighoring farm and a leg collapsed on the bin causing the it to fall over, with Chris on the top of it.
It was a 25 to 30 foot drop and he landed on cement. He was rushed to the Richland Center emergency room where he had a CT scan as well as numerous Xrays. After it was found that his elbow was shattered and ankle broken the next step would be for him to be sent to UW Madison for further evaluation and surgery. On Saturday he had a 5 hour surgery reconstructing and putting back together his elbow. The surgery went well but it was found that he would possibly have to have surgery on his ankle also.
Monday evening he was released from UW with a wheelchair and a return date of Friday Septemeber 20th to talk about the next steps with his ankle and surgery.
Chris is an employee of Dayton Township as a highway patrol man. He did not have insurance and so the worries about medical bills as well as his farm and mortage payments are his #1 worries right now. His injuries are both on his right side so it makes mobility almost impossible. He will not be able to return to work for many months and with no health insurance or cushion for bills the worry is there for him on this and taking it away from recovery.
He is a pillar in the farming and tractor pulling community. If anyone ever needs anything he is there without hesitation. Any help is appreciated more than you know, even if it is just a share of this page.
