Support Chris's Fight Against Laryngeal Cancer
Donation protected
Our dad, Chris Owen, father of Tiffany, Christopher, Rocky, Zach, Dylan, and Christian, has been fighting laryngeal cancer for almost a year. He recently found out that the chemo and radiation did not work and he will have to have his larynx, thyroid, and airway removed in the next couple of weeks.
This has been an incredibly trying time for him and our family, and we were hopeful that the treatment had worked when he completed it at Christmas of 2023. However, after his most recent scan and biopsy, they found that his cancer had spread significantly and he would require extensive surgery, followed by at least two weeks in the hospital, followed by many months of therapy and rehab.
Chris has been a sheriff’s deputy in our community since 2003, and has been a student resource officer at Cartoogechaye Elementary School since 2014. The loss of his voice has had profound effects on his ability to work, and this surgery will likely leave him completely without his voice. This has caused significant financial burden already, and it is unknown when he will be able to work again to provide for his family. His youngest son, Christian, is 7 years old and has special needs and requires extra care at home.
Chris is determined to continue fighting his cancer for his family. He is motivated to meet his first grandchild in November. Chris has been a wonderful friend, neighbor, son, dad, and partner to Lutchi.
He will have to have a tracheostomy to breathe, and a feeding tube. He will likely never eat or drink by mouth after this surgery. This will complicate his recovery and ability to get back to work to support himself and his family.
We humbly ask for your support of our father Chris and his family as his fight continues to the next phase. We are hopeful that our amazing community will come together to help defray some of these costs, so that he can focus on important things like quality time with his family.
We will update with any other supportive efforts as things develop.
We appreciate your generosity, kindness, prayers and support during this difficult time.
