Support Christine's Journey Back to Health

I'm organizing this fundraising appeal on behalf of my dear friend Christine Parini to help raise vital funds for her and her daughter Grace's living expenses. We have not started this fundraiser without real consideration for what we are asking.  Although they have tried to avoid it, we have decided that the time has come to reach out. We have been encouraged by the numbers of people offering to help and we just could not continue to ignore those offers. 

Christine recently underwent surgery for Stage 2 Breast Cancer. The challenge Christine and her daughter Grace are currently facing is making ends meet while Christine recuperates from her first surgery and prepares for the second. During the first surgery, Christine lost excessive amounts of blood, which has lead to anemia and the need for complete rest for recovery. The anemia causes low energy, brain fog, and an inability to focus. While she is healing successfully, Christine is unable to work. All funds raised will go towards helping Christine and Grace meet their basic living expenses and take the huge financial burden off of them as a family as Christine both recovers and undergoes additional surgery. 

The great news is that all the cancer has been removed! The doctors report that the cancer is non-aggressive and lazy. It is also a type of cancer that is non-genetic, so no one else in Christine's family is at risk. And, importantly, the prognosis is excellent! Christine's second surgery is tentatively scheduled for March and will likely require approximately two months of recovery time.  Additional good news is that Christine's doctors have not seen a need for chemotherapy or radiation, but have recommended an alternative drug to alleviate the possibility of any undetected cancer spreading.  Christine's health insurance is helping to cover these costs. However, Christine and Grace need your help!

We are inviting our communities to support Christine and Grace during this time of hardship. Christine is an activist and has given generously of her time and knowledge to communities around the world to support the creation of safe space and future promise for women and children the world over, and to end cycles of incarceration and abuse. It is now our turn to give back to her. In addition to sending love, good vibes and prayers for ease, grace, peace of mind and total healing, we ask that you give what you can monetarily. Regular living expenses are adding up as the weeks tick by that  Christine is out of work. A 6-month stretch of time is a challenge for anyone, and more so as a single mom who only gets paid on commission. Your generous donations will go towards paying bills, including house expenses, university payments, groceries, utilities, etc... The basics that a single mom, like Christine, can swing when she is working full time, and then some... These are not those times.

We would like to thank all those who have supported and will support Christine and Grace during this time. Anyone who has met her is in complete awe of her positivity, determination, light and love. Cancer may have started this hardship, but Christine will finish it healthy, bright, light and loving as ever!
