Support Christopher Cliff -Housing Crisis

Hello! My name is Lori Macza and I am raising money for my dear friend (who is like my brother), Chris Cliff. Chris is enduring a unique, and traumatic housing crisis in Vancouver.

Chris and his partner have rented their home (which is a 'tiny house'), on a shared lot alongside another dwelling (a regular sized house), for the past nine years. They lived safely and peacefully in their neighborhood until November 2023, when the landlord moved and rented the 'main house' to another party.

The new tenant has created an ongoing dispute with the landlord and has illegally cut power to Chris's home in a bargaining attempt to win his fight with landlord.

As of June 11, 2024 Chris and his partner have been without power and they have been using a generator. In addition, the new tenant has threatened Chris, and has a video camera fixed on his home in an attempt to intimidate them.

On top of the inevitable, impending legal bills (because believe it or not, this is not a 'cut and dry' case that police or the B.C Tenancy Board have been able to end quickly), Chris has incurred the following costs: purchasing a generator, fuel for the generator, solar lights, rental cars (as he is not a vehicle owner and he needs to haul fuel tanks back and forth for the generator), cost of using a laundromat, and the cost of propane in order to cook on the outdoor grill. The generator does not allow Chris to use his stove as the stove is hard-wired into the breaker panel and can't be plugged into the generator.

This is a unique situation with no end in sight.

I have visited Chris's home and I can truly say it is his sanctuary. Given the housing crisis in Vancouver, it is not financially feasible for him to just 'pick up and move'.
