URGENT! Help Chris’ Fight Against EOL Liver Disease!
Donation protected
Hello. I never thought I would have to do this for myself or others but we’re desperate at this point. My nephew (Christopher Humphrey) is 42 years young and has recently been diagnosed with (End Stage) Liver disease and cirrhosis of the liver, not a drinker! This is know as “NASH”. He has also been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called (ITP) which is a rare condition that prevents the blood from clotting. I can’t even imagine how that will work if he gets a donor.
Chris just started back to work at home for an insurance company but is now has been on short-term disability. It has ended. He isn’t able to return well. He suffers daily while working, doesn’t sleep well at night and then exhausted the next day while working. He feels he has no other option, which he doesn’t.
He’s in constant acute pain and my sis says it so hard to watch him try to work while supposed to be resting. His mother, my sister Dee, was diagnosed with the same disease just not end stages. The donor physicians can’t allow family donors as it is genetic.
He is getting added to the donor recipient list but who knows how long that will will take? IThis is an urgent request. He shouldn’t be going to be able to go back to work but needs to financially. SSDI (Soc Security Disability Ibsurance) takes about two years to get approved, which he doesn’t have! He’s in a “Catch 22” because while waiting on Disability, he can’t make over $1,500/mo.!
If he doesn’t get a donor liver, he only has as little as 6 months!
Chris has a daughter, (Chloe) in college and lives independently while putting herself through medical school; his daughter (Abby) who lives at home and attends college, whom he supports; and, a 10-year-old (Hayden) he splits custody with, but they live in Texas and rarely gets to see him. Oh, also he has to pay child support every month.
Chris is funny and one of the sweetest people you would ever know. He is so generous, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it! Chris is my sister’s youngest child and her fate is watching her son turn jaundice (yellow) and fade away. Nobody in our family has the money to help support him to this level. The lift is too heavy. This is a cause that takes a village and we’re inviting to the village. Share to your family so they can be a part of the village. (Family, friends, co-workers, etc.)
My niece, his sister ( Sarah) is involved with the doctors and helps financially as she can.
I’m sorry but we don’t know exactly what $$ amount needed, I just picked a number that could help out with rent, copays, child support, medical garnishment, and living expenses for the next period of time. Hopefully, I don’t have to raise it or write a new GoFundMe for other (funeral expenses). I’m sorry to be so blunt!
