Support Christopher's Ongoing Recovery Journey

Donation protected
In September of 2019, Christopher and his girlfriend woke up to their house on fire with no choice but to run through the flames to survive. His girlfriend passed away later that day in the hospital and they were unable to rescue any of their five dogs. With 90% of his body covered in third-degree burns, he lost everything in an instant. Despite the overwhelming odds, Christopher survived.

His journey has been one of unimaginable pain and resilience. He spent six excruciating months in the hospital, enduring years of follow-up surgeries. Burns are more than skin-deep—they involve cutting through skin to manage swelling, removing dead skin while organs struggle to function, and battling lung damage from inhalation injuries. Christopher faced it all: a coma, near-death experiences, dialysis, and months of being unable to even press a nurse call button or speak due to a tracheostomy.

Christopher’s burns are rarely survivable, but he received a newly approved ReCell spray-on-skin procedure and defied all expectations. He slowly relearned basic tasks like walking, showering, and feeding himself. Over 30 surgeries and an indomitable will have brought him to where he is today. He still undergoes regular surgeries, averaging every six weeks, and has weekly medical appointments. Despite these challenges, he dedicates his time to supporting new burn survivors through UAB's burn survivor support group, BURNS.

Tragedy struck again when a tree limb crushed his only surviving car, leaving him dependent on his mother's vehicle, which has over 200,000 miles. The strain of hospital bills and relying on disability has made it impossible for him to afford a new or used car.

With your help, Christopher hopes to pay off his medical debt, cover future surgeries, and purchase a vehicle to relieve the burden on his mother and their scheduling conflicts. Your support will enable him to continue providing invaluable assistance to burn survivors and regain some independence.

Please consider donating to help Christopher continue his remarkable journey of recovery and service.
