Support Christy Kerr To Get Medical Treatment

We don’t get to pick our plight in life.

My name is Lindsey, I want to tell you about some incredibly dear friends of mine and the overwhelming health challenges they are facing. I have known Ben and Christy Kerr for the better part of a decade, and they are some of the most precious people you will meet.

Their family has experienced the unimaginable as Christy became disabled 8 months ago and can no longer function at the level she did before the injury.

In May 2023, Christy suffered a serve traumatic brain injury (TBI) at work. Since then, Christy has been predominantly bed ridden due to the injury.

The traumatic brain injury (TBI) has taken away her ability to function normally in all areas, from work, taking care of herself, to taking care of her family and house. Getting out of bed is like climbing a mountain. When you suffer a brain injury walking, talking and daily activities are SO HARD. Christy frequently uses a cane to help her move around safely, she is very sensitive to light and sound, and has very little energy. This injury has left her disabled.

This TBI has been made worse as it has compounded with autoimmune issues Christy already had.
In 2018 she was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue, leaky gut, Epstein Barr Virus and underwent treatment. The TBI has caused a lot of these issues to resurface with a vengeance.

Since May 2023, she has undergone extensive testing with a traditional Neurologist that included an EMG, MRI etc.

While Christy has received treatment for her TBI and goes to physical therapy, they are not able to address everything that is needed to help her heal. The goal is to find a treatment that Christy will positively respond to and will heal her. The traditional route of doctors has not provided that result.

In December Christy contracted shingles and it left her in debilitating pain.

Last week (Jan '24) a steroid shot was administered to relieve pain, instead it sent Christy into anaphylactic shock and to the ER.

This has become a nightmare of unknown medical events that leave more questions than answers.

People can’t understand the toll of this injury on a family unit until they have experienced it. It is overwhelming, the most exhausting and stressful thing you have ever been through. Suddenly a partner who was “normal” is suddenly handicapped, and all responsibility falls on their spouses shoulders.

The responsibility dynamics of kids, house, work and finances, combined with taking care of a handicapped person is soul crushing. (My family is experiencing this too, so I can relate)

Due to the extent of her injuries in combination with her diagnosis from 2018, Christy has to seek non traditional treatments with Functional doctors. Doctors that understand all of her complex medical issues and can actually treat her are very rare. 
Through endless searching, a doctor in Florida has been found that can help Christy and hopefully bring relief and healing.

Healing from this kind of injury and autoimmune diseases is not a linear experience. It is long, hard, and goes up and down.

For Christy to get better, we need to support and surround their family with emotional, financial and practical support. This is the moment that the village surrounds our friends in need.

Currently Christy can only tolerate a very limited diet, can not take medications or supplements to support her body, because she keeps having adverse anaphylactic responses to things that have been safe in the past. This has made her weaker than she was, and has brought more stress and questions.

She needs immediate help.
