Hello! My name is Ciara Baker and I am a senior at Homestead Highschool. I am also the vice president of our FCCLA chapter. FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, and it is an amazing national organization that teaches students like me leadership skills, how to get involved within the community, and how to be prepared for the future! I have been in FCCLA for 3 years. In February this year, I competed in the Indiana FCCLA State Conference for the Fashion Construction event, and am happy to say I won gold! For my project, I designed and created an FCCLA Grad Cord Dress, inspired by the fact that my highschool refuses to give our chapter of FCCLA grad cords. There was also marketing and business aspects of this project, with me deciding to make a mock brand called "Grad Cord Couture". Thanks to this win, I've learned so much about myself and what I can do. It is one of my proudest moments to date, and I was so happy to be able to express how I felt about something in this way and get rewarded for it! Because of my hardwork, I have been asked by my advisor to travel to the FCCLA National Conference in Orlando, Florida to compete in Fashion based events! This is something I never could have imagined! I am so excited for the chance to push myself further on this journey, and build connections that may last a lifetime. This is something very major that I will get to add to my resume, which will help me so much to reach my future goals! But, to do all of this, I need your help. To make this trip possible, I need to raise $1700 dollars to cover the costs of the 7 day trip. This costs accounts for flights, my hotel, registration, food, and transportation. Amongst all of the work going on, there are some fun activities I get to be included in too, like a trip to Disney World and exclusive FCCLA universal studio aqua glow party night! I've been working to raise money on my own, so I would be incredibly grateful for any support given, big or small! Every little bit helps me take steps towards this goal, and means so much to me. This is something I can't do without you, thankyou so much for your generosity and confidence in what I'm doing!
