Support Cindy Davis on her Long Road to Recovery
What Happened: Her Medical Needs
On Thursday, January 18th, 2024, Cindy was working out in the gym and collapsed. Witnesses reported her speech was slurred and that she could not stand or move her right arm or leg.
She was intubated in the field, and upon initial presentation to the hospital she was found to have a severe pontine hemorrhagic stroke of indeterminate cause. A devastating diagnosis, with a high risk for mortality and serious morbidity. A breathing tube and feeding tube were placed, and she spent several weeks in the ICU and general hospital before being transferred to Sheltering Arms for six weeks of intensive inpatient therapy. During this time, she worked on her speech, feeding, walking, and learning how to move her right arm again. Despite the diagnosis, Cindy has made a miraculous recovery due to her persistence and motivation to be a mother to her two young children.
Thank god she has beaten the odds so far, as some quoted a 90% mortality rate initially. She has made much progress in her speech, walking, and using her right arm however, she still remains in a wheelchair and is unable to walk unassisted, primarily due to balance issues and residual neurological defects. Ongoing physical therapy, speech, and occupational therapy are needed for her continued progress.
Cindy’s alive and fighting, surrounded by her family and being cheered on from all over the world. The recovery is going to be long and daunting, and she will need all the support, financial and otherwise, to help her get through this.
Support Cindy Davis on her Long Road to Recovery
Cindy is kind, full of faith, the perfect amount of goofy, gorgeous, and one of the most intelligent people you will meet. She is the partner to Andrew and is a loving mother to their 3-year-old twins Emory and Lucas.
To know Cindy is to love her. And I hope, by reading her story, you’ll see a glimmer of the woman she is and donate to her recovery to help support her in her life so she can heal and be with her twins, her husband, and all of us.
Cindy always says that her mom named her after the infamous Cyndi Lauper. The classic song, Time After Time, is fitting in this moment.
Help us catch Cindy while she’s falling. Help us support the mother of two incredible twins, the sister to a bright light, the friend who’s never failed to show up, the devoted wife, and the ever-faithful believer.
