You all know my big sis Cindy has been hit with quite a lot. But what most don’t know is that it’s never really ended and has gotten exponential over the last ten months. After everything she has already been through she now has a new medical obstacle which brings more medical bills. It’s imperative for her to get proper treatment, left untreated it could even lead to her cancer coming back.

Cindy already battled cancer once while maintaining a smile even when she was fired for needing a few more weeks to recover. When she was at her lowest she did what she does best, help others. She started training for her first Avon Walk and over the course of the next 5 years she and her team, which I was lucky enough to be a part of, raised over $30,000 to help other women. She rarely has asked for help herself. But was there for anyone that needed a cancer buddy or support for them during a very stressful & scary time, even while she was recovery from her own treatment.

We all think the health and financial burdens end with treatment; everything is back to normal but it doesn't end there. For most, it’s a beginning of an entire new set of problems. Many are decimated financially, mentally and physically.

Chemo and radiation have so many effects, some that can last for years, if not decades. In my sister's case they’ve been chronic pain, persistent exhaustion, and severe intestinal issues because chemo tore them up. She’s also had to cope with thyroid and adrenal issues, weight gain, depression andpanic attacks. It was later learned that some were created or amplified because of a post-cancer drug she’d been taking for 5 years.

While getting rid of that drug put her on the path to getting her life back, a series of unfortunate events created hurdles. Dipping into what little money she had left  to fix her car after a hit and run, only to have it totaled in a food truck explosion, and then shortly after, her apartment flooded. She didn’t have any sort of financial buffer so those and a bevy of other unexpected expenses/events have left her with nothing. Now this unexpected diagnosis involves treatment and specialists she can’t afford.

I want to help my sister the only way I know how and that’s to help reduce some of her stress with financial help. Help her get the medical care she needs. Please help me give my sister Cindy some light at the end of that tunnel.
